Serene Capital was established in 2012 by its Managing Partner, Scott R. Lavinia, to invest in private companies in the lower middle market. Prior to starting Serene Capital, Mr. Lavinia was with Cave Creek Capital Management, another private equity firm, where he was a Partner from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that, he spent the majority of his career in the hedge fund industry specializing in commodities, particulary the energy sector.

Mr. Lavinia graduated from the Boston College Carroll School of Management in 1995 with a marketing degree. He received his MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in 2001 with a concentration in finance. He is also a member of Vistage International.
